Exports rise 1.87% to $38.5 billion in December: Commerce Secretary

Commerce Secretary Rajesh Aggarwal said on Thursday (January 15, 2026) that the country’s merchandise exports increased by 1.87% to $ 38.5 billion in December 2025.

Imports increased to $63.55 billion in December 2025, from $58.43 billion a year ago.

Trade deficit during the month under review stood at $25 billion.

Shri Aggarwal said that despite global uncertainties, India’s exports are registering positive growth.

He said that exports of goods and services are likely to exceed $850 billion in the current financial year.

Exports grew 2.44% to $330.29 billion during April-December.
