Stock markets drop for fourth day amid relentless foreign fund outflows; Sensex dips 31 points

Stock market benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty closed lower in largely limited trading on Wednesday (December 3, 2025) amid continued outflows of foreign funds and profit-taking by investors.

Falling for the fourth consecutive day, the 30-share BSE Sensex fell 31.46 points or 0.04% to close at 85,106.81. It fell 374.63 points or 0.44% to 84,763.64 during the day.

The 50-share NSE Nifty slipped 46.20 points, or 0.18%, to 25,986.

Among Sensex companies, Bharat Electronics, Mahindra & Mahindra, Titan, NTPC, State Bank of India, Adani Ports, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Bajaj Finserv were major laggards.

Tata Consultancy Services, ICICI Bank, Infosys and HDFC Bank were among the gainers.

According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold equities worth ₹3,642.30 crore on Tuesday (December 2, 2025), while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought stocks worth ₹4,645.94 crore.

In Asian markets, South Korea’s Kospi and Japan’s Nikkei 225 indices closed in positive territory, while Shanghai’s SSE Composite index and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index closed lower.

European markets were mostly trading higher. On Tuesday (December 2, 2025), US markets closed with gains.

Global oil benchmark Brent crude jumped 0.99% to $63.07 a barrel.

Falling for the third consecutive session on Tuesday (December 2, 2025), the Sensex fell 503.63 points or 0.59 per cent to close at 85,138.27. Nifty fell 143.55 points or 0.55 per cent to 26,032.20.
