The Ministry of Commerce said on Saturday (August 23, 2025) that the country’s seafood exports during 2024-25 were $ 7.45 billion.
However, the shipment in terms of volume was submerged by 16,98,170 tonnes in the last financial year.
According to the Ministry’s statement on June 19 last year, India’s seafood in 2023-34 was a price of ₹ 60,523.89 crore ($ 7.38 billion) of India’s seafood 17,81,602 tonnes.
The ministry said, “India sent 16,98,170 tonnes of seafood at 62,408.45 crore ($ 7.45 billion) during 2024-25.
Between seafood, the major exported item in terms of frozen shrimp volume and value remained the object, while the US and China came out as major importers of India’s seafood. The export was $ 5.17 billion, quantity at 43.67% stake and 69.46% of the total dollar income.
Frozen fish, the second largest exported object, was $ 622.60 million. This was followed by frozen squad ($ 367.68 million).
The ministry said that the US continued the major importer of Indian seafood in terms of value, with an import of $ 2.71 billion in 2023–24 against $ 2.55 billion.
India exported $ 1.27 billion to China, $ 1.12 billion for the European Union, $ 974.99 million in Southeast Asia, $ 411.55 million to Japan and $ 278.31 million for the Middle East.
The top two ports handled seafood cargo, veg and JNPT.
