Microsoft workers and activists protest against company’s Israel ties, occupy part of campus

Microsoft employees, pre-employees, activists and local supporters handled the East Campus of the software giant in Redmond, Washington on Tuesday (August 19, 2025) and to protest Microsoft’s relationship with Israel and raise awareness about thousands of Palestinian civilians killed by the Israeli army.

This protest was coordinated by the No Azure for Aparthid organization that campaigns against Microsoft’s commercial participation with the Israeli administration.

Microsoft’s East Campus Plaza was created by protesters, which they called a “free area” and renamed it as a martyr Palestinian children’s plaza. Others displayed symbolic shroud and pieces of art, which recalled Palestinians of all ages, killed by the Israeli army, such as journalists Shirin Abu Akleh and Anas Al-Sharif, as well as five-year-old Hind Rajab. Some organized banners who were directly convicted to Microsoft for violence and civil deaths in Palestine.

In a statement posted on his website, any azure for apartheid urged Microsoft to cut relations with Israel, call to end the massacre and force starvation, pay Palestinians to pay revival and end discrimination against workers supporting Palestinians.

Members participating in the protest interacted with the Microsoft Employees, who were on their lunch break and were walking through the plaza according to the group.

Microsoft has been accused of enabling Israel’s War -time violence in Gaza through its contracts with the first country. However, Microsoft published a post on 15 May stating that he has not found any evidence till date that Microsoft’s Azure and AI technologies have been used to target or harm people in conflicts in Gaza. ,

However, on August 15, the company said it was investigating the allegations reported by it. Mentor On August 6, the newspaper is being used by a unit of Israeli defense forces (IDF) belonging to Microsoft Azure.

The police later directed the protesters to leave the area.
