Rupee rises 3 paise to close at 87.72 against U.S. dollar

The rupee integrated into a narrow range on Tuesday (August 12, 2025) to settle only 3 money high against the US dollar amid negative tendency in domestic equities.

Forex traders said that the rupee is trading in a tight border as a late decline in domestic markets and the outflow of foreign funds has reduced the rapid profit for the domestic unit.

In addition, there is a overall negative bias between uncertainties on the trade tariff issue between India and the United States.

In the Interbank Forex, the domestic unit opened at 87.70 and went to the range of 87.59–87.72 during the day before settling at 87.72 (provisional), which was just 3 money higher than its previous bandh.

On Monday (August 11, 2025), the domestic unit closed at 87.75 against the US dollar.

Traders said that investors are in a waiting-and-watch mode ahead of the US CPI inflation figures and are also indicating from US-Russia talks on 15 August.

“We hope that the rupee will trade with negative bias due to the ongoing trade tariff war between India and the US, which can also pressurize the outflow of FII.”

“However, the decline in US dollars and the fall in crude oil prices can support the rupee at a low level. Investors now focus on the US and Indian inflation figures this week. The USD/INR spot price is expected to be traveled in the range of 87.40 to 87,” Anuj Chaudhary, Research analysts and currencies, currencies and currencies said.

Meanwhile, Brent crude prices rose 0.41% to $ 66.70 per barrel in futures trade.

The dollar index, which reflects the strength of greenback against a basket of six currencies, increased from 0.04% to 98.55.
