Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty dragged out on Friday (July 18, 2025) from the outflow of foreign funds in the initial trade and a silent start in the earnings season.
Analysts said the emotion among banking shares is especially cautious in response to Axis Bank’s latest financial results, which decreased by market expectations.
The 30-chair BSE Sensex fell from 185.67 points to 82,073.57 in initial trade. 50-Sare NSE Nifty dropped 45.4 points.
From Sensex FIMMS, Axis Bank declined by about 5 percent after a 3% dip in its June quarter, affected by the implementation of non-performing assets and changes in debt upgradation policy, net profit at ₹ 6,243.72 crore.
According to the latest financial results of Prime Research, HDFC Securities, Axis Bank, the market expectations were reduced by the hopes of the market.
“In particular, Axis Bank’s GDR rose by 4.8% to $ 64.30 after the bank’s property declines on Thursday (July 17, 2025) after a decline in the property of the bank.”
Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Anant and Tech Mahindra were also among the legs.
However, Power Grid, Mahindra and Mahindra, Tata Steel and Tata Motors defined wide market trends and were among the beneficiaries.
According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors (FII) on Thursday (July 17, 2025) launched a price of ₹ 3,694.31 crore.
“In July, so far, India is reducing most markets, with a dip of 1.6% in the Nifty. A significant contributor for the decline is a sales by FII.
“There is a clear pattern in FII activity so far this year. They were sellers in the first three months. For the next three months they change buyers. And the trends in the seventh month indicate the sale so far until some positive news reverses the dowtrands in the market,” VK Vijayakumar, the main investment strategic, Geozoist Investments.
Among the Asian markets, South Korea’s Kospi and Japan’s Nikkei 225 index cited lower, while Shanghai’s SSE Composite Index and Hong Kong’s Hong Seng traded in a positive field.
The US markets ended more on Thursday.
Global Oil Benchmark Brent crude was drowned 0.04 per cent, which was 69.49 USD a barrel.
On Thursday (July 17, 2025), Sensex fell at 375.24 points or 0.45% to 82,259.24. The Nifty ended 100.60 points or from 0.40% to 25,111.45.
