The government agency said on Monday that Openi, Alphabet’s Google, Anthropic and Elon Musk’s AI firm XAI has won a contract of up to $ 200 million each, which aims to adopt advanced AI capabilities in the US Defense Department.

The department’s main digital and artificial intelligence office said that the contract will enable DOD to use agent AI workflow and use them to solve important national security challenges.

Chief Digital and AI officer Daug Matty said, “Adopting AI is changing the ability to support our ceasefire and to maintain strategic benefits on our opponents.”

US government agencies are expanding their use of AI run by order from a White House in April, promoting adoption in April. President Donald Trump has also shifted the 2023 biden-era executive order to soften the regulation on technology, demanding to reduce AI risk through compulsory data revelations.

Separate on Monday, XAI announced a suit of its products, called the “Groke for Government”, which makes its advanced AI model – which includes its latest major Grocks 4 – which are available to federal, local, state and national security customers.

The Pentagon announced last month that Openai was given a $ 200 million contract, stating that the CHATGPT manufacturer “would develop a prototype frontier AI capabilities to solve important national security challenges in both warfighting and enterprise domain”.

The contracts announced on Monday deepened the relationship between the AI race and leading companies of the US government, addressing concerns about the need for competitive contracts for the use of AI in federal agencies.

In May, Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren urged the DOD to ensure competitive AI contracts at a time when Musk’s Grockebott was acquiring land in the federal government.
