On Tuesday (June 24, 2025), the Congress attacked the Center on interest rates on savings accounts, allegedly reached the lowest level in 25 years, alleging that the Modi government has left no stone unturned to “ruin” the country’s rapid growing economy in the last 11 years.
Congress General Secretary in charge of Communications, Jairam Ramesh shared a media report on X, claiming that the RBI cut by 1% in the repo rate forced banks to reduce their deposit rates, pushing the savings account interest rates at a 25 -year low.
“In the last 11 years, the Modi government has left no stone unturned to ruin the country’s fast growing economy. With demonetisation, new experiments are being done every year on the people of the country; they are being tortured in a new way every day,” Shri Ramesh said in a post on X in Hindi.
Interest rates on savings accounts have reached the lowest level in 25 years, colliding with the pockets of the elderly and common citizens directly.
The Congress leader said, “Banks have already closed their doors to the common people; Next, they will be available only to very rich capitalist friends.”
“Prime Minister, the good of the people of the country is your first responsibility, but you are busy increasing the wealth of your capitalist friends, by converting the money of the people of the country into their companies through the stock market,” Mr. Ramesh alleged.
It is a great injustice and deception towards the people of the country, he said.
The Congress is attacking the government on handling the economy, claims issues of rising prices, the common people were getting a tough competition due to lack of private investment and stabilizing wages.
