Software Services firm Cognizant Technology Solutions will invest (15.82 billion ($ 182.76 million) to create a new campus in South Indian city of Vishwakapatnam, which will build around 8,000 jobs, the state government announced on Friday (20 June 2025).
Commercial operations will begin in March 2029 in a press release of a Andhra Pradesh government.
Cognizant did not immediately respond to the remarks request.
The announcement was made only a few months after India’s top IT firm, Tata Consultancy Services, unveiled plans for the same city and 13.70 billion campuses, and expected 12,000 jobs.
This step aligns with the strategy of the cognizant to customize real estate costs. In May 2023, Chief Executive Officer Ravi Kumar S said that the company would abandon 11 million square foot office space globally, mainly in India’s largest cities, Tier -2 investing in Indian cities.
Globally, IT companies, including India’s $ 283 billion sectors, are taking cost cuts such as mudification of real estate assets and the uncertainty of demand is delayed by wages.
