ZF Group commissions new plant in Coimbatore


Automotive Supply and Technology Company ZF Group has launched a plant in Coimbatore to manufacture and complete railway areas in domestic and export markets.

10,000 sqm construction facility, which is set up with 20 million euro investment (about Rs. 192 crore), will initially produce 85% for the export market.

Andreas Mozar, Executive Vice President of Industrial Technology of ZF Group, told the media on Wednesday that the plant had a capacity to produce 22,000 broadcasting and 35,000 axles annually. While most of the production will be exported initially, supply in the domestic market will increase in the coming years.

“The new plant in Coimbatore with the main hub in Germany will support the production capacity required for the development of the future market in the global construction equipment market.

He said, “The off-highway plant will support the development of ZF in India, which will supply world-class technology to domestic and global OEMs,” he said in a press release.

According to the ZF Group Board of Management and Head – Commercial Vehicle Solutions and Industrial Technology member Peter Lears, the ZF group sees India as an engineering hub, with the presence in 19 places in the country.

Akash Passi, president of ZF Group India, said that Coimbatore has a 12 GW capacity with the scope of expansion at the wind power plant.
