Reliance Power signs PPA with Green Digital, Bhutan


Reliance Power Limited said that it signed a commercial term sheet for long -term power procurement agreement (PPA) with Green Digital Private Limited (GDL), owned by Druk Holding and Investments Limited (DHI), which is the Royal Government’s Investment Branch.

Reliance Power and DHI will jointly develop Bhutan’s largest solar power project through a 50:50 vests, with an installed capacity of 500 MW. The project forces a capital outline of up to 2000 crores under the Build-On-Operate (BOO) model, representing the largest private sector foreign direct investment (FDI) in Bhutan’s solar energy sector till date.

The project will be implemented in phased installments over the next 24 months, closely aligned with the stability structure of Bhutan, and a broad regional energy transition agenda throughout South Asia. In October 2024, Reliance Enterprises, Jointly promoted by Reliance Power Limited, and Reliance Infrastructure Limited partnered with Druk Holding and Investments Limited to develop solar and hydroelectric projects in Bhutan.

As part of the agreement, Reliance Enterprises and Druk Holding and Investments Limited. Jointly 500 MW will develop solar power project.

The partnership also enters the execution and long-term operation of the 770 mw chamkharchhu-i hydroelectric project, which is a run-of-the-guer-asset structured under a long-term concession model, alliances with Bhutan’s national energy strategy.
