Stock markets close lower for 2nd day, IT stocks, weak global trends drag

The benchmark BSE Sensex dropped 271 points on Monday (May 19, 2025), marking the second straight day of loss due to selling in IT stock and a weak trend in global markets after the downgrade of America by rating Moody’s ratings.

The 30-Sare BSE Barometer declined by 271.17 points or 0.33%, settling at 82,059.42. During the day, it fell 366.02 points or 0.44% to 81,964.57.

NSE Nifty took a dip from 74.35 points or 0.30% to 24,945.45.

Among the Sensex firms, infinite, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra, Reliance Industries, Asian Paints, HCL Tech and Adani Ports Lagard were Lagard.

Power Grid, Bajaj Finance, NTPC, State Bank of India and IndusInd Bank were among the beneficiaries.

Mehta Equality Limited, Senior VP (Research), Senior VP (Research), Pacific Taps, Pacific Taps, Prashant Taps, Prashant Taps said, “Initiatives resulting in IT, Capital Goods and Oil Ended Gas Shares resulting in the market weak Asian and European indices as a result of the market weak Asian and European indices.

In the Asian markets, South Korea’s Kospi, Japan’s Nikkei 225 index and Hong Kong’s Hong Seng settled, while Shanghai’s SSE Composite index ended more.

European markets were doing less business. The US markets ended in a positive field on Friday (May 16, 2025).

Global Oil Benchmark Brent crude became $ 65.14 per barrel from 0.41% dip.

According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors (FII) bought prices worth 8,831.05 crores on Friday (May 16, 2025).

On Friday (May 16, 2025), Sensex fell by 200.15 points or 0.24%, settling at 82,330.59. The Nifty fell 42.30 points or 0.17% to 25,019.80.
