Stock markets decline; trade lower dragged down by Axis Bank

The Equity Benchmark Indices Sensex and Nifty on Friday (April 25, 2025) made a rebound in the early trade between a frequent foreign fund inflow and a rally in global markets, but failed to pursue the winning pace and was later pulled by Axis Bank.

In the initial trade, the 30-shyer BSE benchmark gauge climbed 329.23 points 80,130.66. NSE Nifty scored 118.75 points 24,365.45.

However, the two benchmark indices later gave initial benefits and trading less. BSE Benchmark traded 174.24 points at 79,627.19, and Nifty gave 94.35 points down to 24,152.35.

From Sensex firms, after a marginal decline in the march quarter after the country’s third largest private sector lender, Axis Bank recorded a decline of 3.50%, which increased from ₹ 7,130 crore to ₹ 7,117 crore in the year ago period.

Adani Ports, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Tata Motors, Tech Mahindra and Eternal were also among the legs.

However, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Reliance Industries, HCL Tech, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank were the biggest beneficiaries.

In Asian markets, South Korea’s Kospi Index, Tokyo’s Nikkei 225, Shanghai SSE Composite and Hong Keng in Hong Kong were trading in a positive field.

The American markets increased significantly on Thursday (April 24, 2025). The NASDAQ composite increased by 2.74%, S&P 500 by 2.03%and Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 1.23%.

According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors (FII) bought a price of ₹ 8,250.53 crore on Thursday (April 24, 2025).

Global Oil Benchmark Brent crude climbed 0.53% to $ 66.90 per barrel.

The 30-Sare BSE Benchmark declined by 315.06 points or 0.39% at 79,801.43 on Thursday (April 24, 2025). The Nifty ran from 82.25 points or from 0.34% to 24,246.70.
