Stock markets rally for fifth day; Sensex jumps 855 points on buying in banking, IT shares

Benchmark Equity Index Sensex and Nifty increased by more than 1% on Monday (April 21, 2025), recorded their fifth day of the rally on the back of buying in banking and shared IT shares after encouraging the quarter income and foreign fund inflow.

30-Syre BSE Sensex jumped 855.30 points or 1.09%, to settle at 79,408.50 with 79,000 points. During the day, it increased from 1,081.85 points or 1.37% to 79,635.05. The NSE Nifty climbed 273.90 points or 1.15% to close at 24,125.55.

Sensex Firms, Tech Mahindra, Indusind Bank, Power Grid, Bajaj Finserv, Mahindra & Mahindra, HCL Tech, State Bank of India, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Infosys and Reliance Industries were the most beneficial. Adani was one of the ports, Hindustan Unilever, ITC, Asian Paints and Nestle Lagards.

The shares of HDFC Bank climbed over 1% after the major private lender reported an increase of 7% in its consolidated net profit for the March quarter. The stocks of Infosys increased by more than 2% after the company’s march quarter increased by 3.3%.

Reliance Industries’ shares increased by about 2% which also promoted the rally in benchmark indices. According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors (FII) bought a price of ₹ 4,667.94 crore on Thursday (April 17, 2025).

In Asian markets, South Korea’s Kospi Index and Shanghai SSE composite settled in positive fields, while Tokyo’s Nikkei fell down 225. Markets in Hong Kong were closed. The US markets mostly decreased on Thursday (April 17, 2025). Equity markets in the US were closed for ‘Good Friday’ (April 18, 2025). Global Oil Benchmark Brent crude fell by 2.71% to 2.71% $ 66.25 per barrel.

The BSE benchmark Sensex jumped 1,508.91 points or 1.96% to settle on Thursday (April 17, 2025 at 78,553.20. The Nifty increased from 414.45 points or 1.77% to 23,851.65. The stock markets were closed on Friday (18 April, 2025.).
