NCLT defers hearing on Bhushan Power and Steel case, post Supreme Court status quo order on liquidation proceedings


The Supreme Court postponed the hearing on the Bhushan Power and Steel Case (BPSL) on the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), Delhi Tuesday (May 27, 2025) after ordering the status quo in the liquidation proceedings against the company pending before the NCLT.

On Monday, hearing a petition filed by JSW Steel, the Supreme Court ordered the status quo on the proceedings of Bhushan Power and Steel liquidation to allow JSW Steel File Review Petition in Apex Court.

On 2 May, the Supreme Court rejected the JSW Steel Resolution Plan for BPSL and further directed NCLT to initiate liquidation proceedings against BPSL.

At Tuesday’s hearing, the NCLT postponed the hearing in the case on August, paying attention to the status quo order of the Supreme Court.
