Integrated Payment Interface (UPI) services have been affected by several reports of transactions failure from across the country.
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), which manages UPI operations, accepted the outage and said it was working to solve the issue, a few hours after many users approved the issue by many users.
NPCI said in a post on X, “NPCI is currently facing technical issues by stopping, causing a decline in partial UPI transactions. We are working to resolve the issue, and will keep you update. We regret inconveniences.”
Saturday (April 12, 2025) Outage is the second such incident this month. On 2 April, some banks’ UPI payment server users also experienced some delay for some time. This was a day after April 1 when banks experience some procedural issues due to the conclusion of the financial year. The services, however, were restored in both examples.
The outage monitoring website dowtector showed that users began to experience issues with the payment interface at around 11:50 am on Saturday (April 12, 2025). The number of complaints with more than 2,300 people took place around 1 pm, in which he reported his experience. According to the website, 81% of users complained about issues related to payment, 17% fund transfer and 2% purchase.
Many users faced difficulty in paying small amounts due to UPI transactions failing. Some users reported that the error message “the recipient’s bank network is down. You are not able to pay your recipient’s bank. Please try to pay in a separate bank account.”
